Xutos & Pontapés celebrate 35 years of the album “Circo de Feras” with exhibition

The exhibition, with 35 photographs and curated by Xutos & Pontapés themselves, will be on display at Arrábida Shopping until October 30th.

Portuguese rock group Xutos & Pontapés opened a photography exhibition, on Tuesday, at Arrábida Shopping, in Vila Nova de Gaia, to mark the 35th anniversary of the album “Circo de Feras”, revealed the organization.

“From recordings in the studio to days on the road, passing through moments on stage, the band will share several photos never released to the public”, reads a press release.

The exhibition, with 35 photographs and curated by Xutos & Pontapés themselves, will be on view in that shopping center on Floor 0 until October 30th. The photographic records were captured by photographers Álvaro Rosendo and Pedro Lopes.

The selection of black and white photographs is divided into three parts: individual images of all elements, as well as in groups; studio and recording recordings of “Circo de Feras”; and of several moments never before shared on the road, on stage and with the public, where there is no lack of photography attributing the album “gold, silver or platinum”.

From classic to more informal moments, it will be a true journey not only through the history of the band but also through what is considered one of the most important Portuguese rock albums ever.

“ArrábidaShopping is very excited and proud to offer visitors a unique exhibition that praises the work of such an important name in the Portuguese music scene as Xutos & Pontapés. This moment reflects our desire not only to bring unforgettable experiences to those who visit, as well as being part of the country’s cultural agenda. We want to continue providing access to culture and being part of such unforgettable stories”, says Tomás Furtado, director of ArrábidaShopping.

“Circo de Feras” is the third original album by Xutos & Pontapés and was released in 1987, being considered one of the best known in the discography, with themes such as “Contentores”, “Vida Malvada”, “Não Sou o Único” and song that names the album.

The celebrations of the 35th anniversary of “Circo de Feras” will also be marked with a special concert by Xutos & Pontapés at ArrábidaShopping. For about an hour and a half, fans will be able to sing along to the great hits that are part of the soundtrack of several generations of Portuguese, such as “Sai p’rá Rua” and “Não Sou o Único”.

The show will take place outdoors on September 23, at 9 pm, in the shopping center, with the support of Vila Nova de Gaia City Council. Admission will be free upon presentation of a wristband, which can be booked from September 16, through the ArrábidaShopping website, and there will be a maximum of four wristbands per person.

Xutos & Pontapés, one of the longest-running bands in Portuguese rock, emerged 43 years ago, counting from the first concert, on January 13, 1979, at the Students of Apolo, in Lisbon.
